A friend of mine recently made this observation: “If we want to go fishing, own a firearm, drive a motor vehicle, own a business, etc, we need a licence, a permit or both. And if we have been invited to work on a building site, we need to complete an induction before we can start. But we do not need an agreement or an induction for a potential lifetime relationship, which requires a lot more responsibility and sometimes required skills such as parenting!”
With 54% of marriages in Australia breaking apart right now with many only lasting between six months to two years, I believe an ‘induction’ into a marriage or similar relationship would be a vital activity to improve both the quality and greater longevity of relationships.
